PRAYER: Please pray tonight for our community. Pray for the folks you know in our community. Lift them up!
DEVOTION: “What is the wise man’s difficulty? A wise man is too careful. And while he is in the operation of the Spirit, he wants to know what he is saying. No man can know what he is saying when the Spirit is upon him. His own mind is inactive. If you get into that place in which you are near God, your mind is entirely obliterated, and the mind of Christ comes by the power of the Spirit. Under these conditions, Christ prays and speaks in the Spirit through you as the Spirit gives utterance.” (pg 79)
His point is strong here. The older we get, the wiser we get, the more careful we get. We tend not to take chances, risks. We tend to air on the side of caution and safety. We sometimes can’t let our minds stretch the way that a child would let their minds stretch and wander. Belief needs to be rooted in fact.
For the Spirit to be given a home in our hearts, we need to open our hearts, open our minds. Open our way of thinking and believe in something new.
We need the mind of Christ. We need the power of the Spirit to bring us the mind of Christ. That mind of Christ then guides our thoughts, our speech, our actions.
It’s a lot. I know. It’s a lot to think about and a lot to….believe. Yet, here we are, talking about this every day for the past 54 days. If you’ve gone this far with us, you’re sticking around. You’re throwing around the idea of this Spirit taking control and changing your life, changing your mind.
Think on this. Jesus is living in you through His Spirit. That same Spirit gives us the mind of Christ. That mind of Christ then changes our actions, reactions and gives us wisdom. That mind of Christ allows us to make better decisions each day…..if…..we give in to it and give in to the believe that we have it and have His Spirit living in us.
