9.24.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 75. Unbelief.

DEVOTION: “Why do you doubt? Faith reigns. God makes it possible. How many receive the Holy Spirit, and Satan gets doubt in? Don’t doubt; believe. There is power and strength in Him; who will dare to believe God? Believe until everything of not of God is withered, and the life of Jesus is implanted within.” (pg 110)

Doubt. Unbelief. Uncertainty.

These words plague our thoughts each day. Decisions that we make. Choices that are made for us lead to these words. Our own internal battles lead us down the roads of doubt. The highways of unbelief. Sometimes we stop to get gas so that we can continue on the roads because we actually….like it.

Sounding familiar.

Sometimes we get paralyzed and are unable to move because of doubt. We definitely believe in unbelief. But do we dare to believe in God moving in our lives? In the lives of those around us?

Some days….no. Others…maybe. A scarce few here and there….yes.

There are examples in the Bible.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes”. Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” – Mark 9:23-25

Even in the day of Jesus, unbelief existed and He was standing right there in front of them!

Call on the Spirit today. Call on the Spirit to help your unbelief. Call on the Spirit to destroy the unbelief and fill you with the strength, courage and discipline to believe in God’s promises today.

PRAYER: God, help my unbelief.

It takes work to believe…doubt is our natural default mode. The Holy Spirit, as our teacher, guide, comforter is willing to do the work…

I couldn’t sleep so I was reading ‘Your Power in the Holy Spirit’ by John G. Lake. The book is a compilation of his teachings similar to the Wigglesworth book. This is an interpretation of a message in tongues (which he calls the voice of God)…
Christ is at once the spotless descent of God into man, and the sinless ascent of man into God, and the Holy Ghost is the agent by whom it is accomplished.

As Dave says ‘check another box in the pro column’.
God in me, me in God, with the Holy Spirit working it all out…how can any doubt remain with that force working within me.? It is beyond me, as if it is happening without me, the natural me yielding to the emerging spiritual me…more of you, less of me.
In Him I will see all those things that are possible…check… check!

If you want to change your ways shed your doubts and fully immerse yourself into knowing God is there no matter what. He will fill you with belief and his understanding. Trust in him fully and the rewards will flow. Share God’s beliefs with others and you will be rewarded by your heavenly father.

” Jesus said” !!!!!!!!!! ” If you can believe, all things…..are possible to him who believes. ” !!!!! When doubt raises its ugly voice….the living word of God can shut it down, Jesus responded to Satan, ” It is written” …we too can proclaim to those doubts when they arise, and they do!. ” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and rely not on your own understanding….Prov 3:5.. .. .” I never doubt the sun will greet me in the morning, and I never wonder if the rain will wash the earth. Just as certain as the sun I see, it is certain that You care for me, and Your love will wash away my sin again”. ( words to a song) by Ed Kerr ” I never doubt” ….continued prayers for all !

Love all these great comments today. Thanks for all you share. Proverbs 3:5 is one of my favorites Peggy. What a beautiful song too. If in doubt I usually turn to the bible and see if what I am doubting is there. What does it say? Is it aligned with God’s word. If it is aligned with his word no need to doubt… if not… Maybe that’s not the direction to go. Yes listen to the Holy Spirit within us. But check it against Gods word to make sure we are listening correctly. May God bring confidence in those decisions because it’s based on Him. It’s in those freedom areas it gets tougher sometimes. I find myself sometimes wanting more direction.
