8.27.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 47. Surrender.

PRAYER: Got a prayer request for Michael today in Africa who is very sick.

DEVOTION: “Oh the power of the Holy Spirit creates new men and new women. The Holy Spirit takes away your stony heart and gives you a heart of flesh. (Ezek 26-27). And when God gets His way like that, there is a tremendous shaking among the dry bones (See Ezek 37:4-10), for God gets His way with the people. We must see that we are no good unless God takes charge of us. But when He gets real charge of us, what a plan for the future! What a wonderful open door for God!

So. It’s all about surrender. Surrender to the Holy Spirit. Surrender to God. Surrender to who He is in our lives and who He can be in our lives.

How stubborn are we and set in our ways as humans who try to reason everything out. How we think that we know best and know the way down the tangled roads and the webs we tread. God knows best. God is waiting and looking for open hearts and open doors to our hearts.

We need to surrender. We need to let God into it all. We need to let His Spirit into it all. Into every single aspect of our lives. Oh, what an incredible life it would be if we could let God in on it all.

That our stony, stubborn, inflexible and impenetrable hearts would yield to the love that God has for us. The hope that God has for us. The healing that God has for us.

Let it be so. Let surrender be the rule of the day and the year.

Another prayer I have always prayed a little different is : ” God grant me the Grace……….to accept with Serenity …… the things I cannot change…..the Courage to change the things I can…and the Wisdom to know the difference”. Amen

Reminds me of the old hymn I Surrender All To Jesus. It’s so beautiful. I wish I could get the hang of being surrendered to Jesus with my every breath! Maybe someday!
