8.25.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 45. Crooked.

PRAYER: Please take a minute and search Prayer Request Wall in our posts here. I’ll keep adding prayer requests there. Thanks.

DEVOTION: “I often say there is more done in the seeking than in any other way. In the Scriptures, there is no such thing as seeking for the Holy Spirit. But we have to get to a place where we know that unless we meet face to face with God and get all the crooked places out of our lives, there will be no room for the Holy Spirit, for the indwelling of God. But when God gets a chance at us, and by the vision of the blood of Jesus we see ourselves as God sees us, then we have a revelation. Without this, we are undone and helpless.” (pag 70-71)

We are undone and helpless. We need to get all the crooked places out of our lives.

There is so much in those two sentences.

How undone and helpless are you? Just about as undone and helpless as me. As undone and helpless as we all are. But…Jesus.

We bring Jesus into the equation and our undone-ness and our helplessness seems to change. Sometimes it doesn’t go away, I’m not saying it does. But…I am saying that there’s a hope to it all when Jesus is in the equation. When the Spirit of God is living in us, we have hope.

The other sentence here about our crookedness. About our crooked places and how we need to get them out of our lives.

What are your crooked places? Where does the sin reside in your life? Where does the hurt reside? Where does the fear reside? Where does the worry reside? Where doe all of it reside? Because…like it or not, it does. It’s there and we need the presence of the Holy Spirit deep in our lives. We need the presence of the Spirit of God in us so that we can get un-crooked and live a life that’s a reflection of Jesus.

So. Today. How crooked are you?

When my heart if overwhelmed, sad and crying out that’s when I know I need to turn. Need to turn and take care of my heart as everything will come from that. That may also include separating from to protect my heart. That’s why I so love the peace as our guide.
And this is what we have been studying.
    Love this from Smith Wigglesworth
The peace that comes from above is always full of purity and is life-giving, and it never brings destruction to anyone. And the wisdom is on the same line; and all purification on every line never disturbs you. It is only what is earthly that disturbs you. You cannot be disturbed by a heavenly breath. God is with us on a heavenly breath, and in that action you cannot be disturbed. If you are disturbed from this day, know it is an earthly thing that is disturbing you.

    Dear Lord,
So far I’ve done all right.
    I haven’t gossiped,
    haven’t lost my temper,
haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent.
    I’m really glad about that.

But in a few minutes, God,
I’m going to get out of bed.
    And from then on,
I’m going to need a lot more help.

I don’t know the author is. I can laugh at this and acknowledge the truth.

I know some of my trigger points, those blocks that will cause me to stumble, I’ve learned how to fight. I know I can only forgive through the grace of God, I know that only the peace of Christ will calm my soul, I know that the Holy Spirit will guide me through. I know I will always come out on the other side of the storm…. I go in the direction of my most dominant thought, so I keep my mind set on Christ. It took awhile to get here, I did not enjoy the ride but I learned from it. The confidence I have is that , those pieces that are still broken (or crooked), will be revealed by the spirit and made whole through Christ Jesus.

The Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword…I search it to find a scripture that applies to the situation.

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world John 4:4

Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Knowing God is with me always I am able to begin to straighten my life and align it with God. Amazing and glorious to live in his light and be a beacon of hope unto others.
