PRAYER: Pray today for the kids that we’ll be ministering to this week. Many of them are high school kids, seeking direction on their life.
DEVOTION: “Oh, it always seems to me that the Gospel is robbed of it’s divine glory when we overlook this marvelous truth of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. To be saved is wonderful; to be a new creature, to have passed from death to life, to have the witness of the Spirit that you are born of God – all this is unspeakably precious. But whereas we have the well of salvation bubbling up inside of us, we need to go on to a place where from within us will flow “rivers of living water’ (John 7:38). The Lord Jesus showed us very plainly that, if we believe in Him, from within us will flow “living water”. And this He spoke by the Spirit. The Lord wants us to be filled with the Spirit, to have the manifestation that is indeed given “for the profit of all” (1 Cor. 12:7). The Lord wants us to be His mouthpieces and to speak as the very oracles of God.” (pg59)
Have you ever considered yourself an “oracle of God?”
So maybe…that’s a way to look at yourself and your life. To be an oracle of God. To be His mouthpiece. His hope. His life. His grace. Kind of intimidating if you ask me.
But….if we have this “river of living water” in us. Shouldn’t we tell other people about it. God wants us to be filled with His Spirit. Then He wants that Spirit to be used for the “profit of all.” All means everyone. All means your family, your friends….all.
I know, we’ve been hitting this topic hard lately but it seems as though it’s something that just needs to brought up….more often than not. Because it’s hard. Because it’s something that we normally don’t feel inclined to incorporate into our lives.
So. Let’s think about ourselves as oracles. As beacons of God’s light. Beacons of His hope. Because…really….that’s what we are.
Let’s be the light today.
