7.28.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 18. Rest.

PRAYER: Please pray for all of the prayer requests from our Monday Night Worship broadcast last night. Healing and hope to those who need it.

DEVOTION: What will the Holy Spirit do?

That’s a really good question. A few answers that Smith puts forth:

The Holy Spirit is prophetic. He says:

“Be of good cheer” – John 16:33
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from me” – Matthew 11:29
“Have peace with one another” – Mark 9:50

But you say, that is what Jesus said to us. It is what the Holy Spirit is taking and revealing to us and speaking to us. The Holy Spirit is the spokesman in these days. The Holy Spirit came to be the spokesman, and He spoke the Word. He is still taking the Word and speaking it. The Holy Spirit takes the words of Jesus and He is so full of truth that He never adds anything to them. He gives you the unadulterated Word of Truth, the Word of Life.

I could stop there because that’s all incredible but think on this as well.

“He will take of Mine and declare (reveal) it to you.” – John 16:15. What does Jesus mean by that, what is His? Smith states that truths like these are Jesus’:

“I am the Light of the world” – John 8:12
“For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved” – John 3:17

The Holy Spirit takes these words and gives them to you. Here are some of the words of the master: “Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28. Who is speaking? It is the Holy Spirit in the last days, the Spirit of Truth bringing forth the Word of Life. “I will give you rest.” Rest? Oh, there is no rest like it. I can come in your moment of greatest trial.

So let’s leave it there for today. But, take heed of the last few sentences. The Spirit bringing forth the Word of Life. Words of Life. When Jesus says I will give you rest, take His word on it. Let the Spirit of God, this Holy Spirit, work in your soul to give you rest. Rest from the chaos, torment, jealousy rage and fear of this world.

We all need rest. Today. Let the Spirit of God grant you that rest.

Sweet rest!…..still working on it…I have made Sundays about worship, rest, and family…so getting there.
“For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved” – John 3:17 This one scripture stands out the most to me. Social media makes it so easy to condemn but…we were doing it before..we can just do it faster now. Our words are our heart…condemnation of people will reflect back on us. I have been having this one particular thought lately…I can’t shake it so I am listening to it…to condemn a man, any man, casts doubt on the redemptive power of the cross. Is the Holy Spirit in me…working for God’s glory? or am I still too much in the world that worldly negativity is a stronger influence? I want the purity that the Holy fire will provide.
