PRAYER: Please pray today for your heart. Again, that God would create a clean heart, a pure heart. That faith would abound in it.
DEVOTION: So these past few devotions have been about cleaning our hearts, taking away distractions and giving God complete control and reign in our hearts and lives. Easier said than done.
But…let’s talk about the results of this process. Smith points this out as he continues in chapter two.
When the Spirit of the Lord is upon upon us, we do not impart words…but life.
(I want to stop there but let me continue)
Words are only for the purpose of understanding what the Word is, but the Word itself is really life giving. So when we are covered in the Spirit we are imparting life. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, every time we get up, we impart life.
OK. So…I’m shaking my head as I write this because…all of this.
This idea of words imparting life is so INCREDIBLY important. Where to begin, OK. So, our words have so much power and purpose. But…we have to be rooted in knowledge in order to give them power and purpose. We have to be rooted in knowledge of the living Word in order to give our words knowledge and purpose.
This is the point. As we clean our hearts, as we clean our souls, as we deepen our relationship with Jesus and as we dive deeper into all that He has for us…our words give more life. They have more power. As His Spirit fills us, brings us life, what we speak and how we handle situations….that gives life.
This excites me. Does it excite you? Does having this type of “power” for lack of a better word, give you chills? It should.
Don’t miss this. Don’t miss the life giving opportunity that we have.
We are just getting started here! Amazing.
May God continue to work in your heart and soul. May the cleansing process be powerful. May your faith be made stronger by the purity of your heart and soul.
God, let our words have life. Let them be yours.
