7.16.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 5. Clean.

PRAYER: Please pray today that faith would fill your soul, your spirit. That you would be more open to hearing from Jesus every day.

DEVOTION: Today we’re talking about faith and what it means to have faith. If you’re following along in the Smith Wigglesworth book, chapter two opens with this sentence: What it means for people to have faith!

His point about faith is that when faith is in perfect operation, we will be in the perfect place where God is manifested right before our eyes. Matthew 5:8 says this, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.”

This purity is a big step. A really big step. As Smith points out, the more purity, the more faith.

Whoa. I’ve actually never heard it said like that before. The purity of our heart leads to a strengthening of our faith. So that leads to the question….am I willing to be more pure? Am I willing to take the steps necessary to clean it out all, lay it all down and let God in, really into my life? Kind of like a complete purging of the heart and soul.

I’m in the middle of purging our house right now because we are considering a move. It’s been cleansing for me to take bag after bag out to the curb to have it hauled away.

The same applies here. We need to take the baggage from our hearts, the sin, the distractions, the garbage and bring it out to the curb. Let Jesus take it all from us and create a cleaner, purer heart is all of us.

Prayers up for your purging today.

This devotional made me think of these scriptures…

Phil 4: 6 Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, 7 then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.[h] 8 So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every
glorious work of God,[i] praising him always. 9 Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things. The Passion Translation

Again this reminds me of why the KJV bible says in Matthew 6:10 KJV
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
God’s will must be done IN us, IN our hearts. There is no room for God in us if we don’t get rid of the previous tenant’s junk.

This is something we need to do on a regular basis as there will always be distractions, confusion and sin in our lives as long as we are here on earth.
