7.14.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 3. New life.

PRAYER: Please pray for Susan today. Pray for peace and comfort.

DEVOTION: “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.” – Psalm 72:6

Do you feel barren today? Do you feel worn down and rejected? Do you feel as though it’s just not happening and your heart is heavy? We all do on one day or another. This verse above is encouraging, comforting.

He turns the barrenness into greenness and freshness and life. God wants you to know that there is a place you may come to, in which you are dispensed with and God comes to be your assurance and sustaining power spiritually-until your dryness is turned into springs, until your barrenness becomes floods, until your whole life becomes vitalized by heaven, until heaven sweeps through you and dwells within you and turns everything inside out, until you are absolutely filled with divine possibilities that you begin to live as a new creation. The Spirit of the living God sweeps through all weaknesses…..He wants us to be filled with all the fullness of God.” (pg. 15, “On the Holy Spirit”)

This is one of the key roles of the Spirit. To fill us with life. With hope. With love. With desire. Desire to be brought back to life. We are so often beaten down by the harshness and the troubles of this world. The beauty of what Jesus left here is that we can call on His Spirit in us to bring us power, peace, hope, love, guidance, strength, inspiration…..life.

Today. I know. The battle is real. The undertow is strong. Make this a practice day. A day to just start the conversation and say, “Jesus, Your Spirit in me, give me hope”, “Jesus, Your Spirit in me, give me peace”, “Jesus, Your Spirit in me, give me life.”

Let this be the beginning of new life. Of new life in Jesus. Be open to letting the Spirit move in you. Open to the Spirit changing you. Welcome the change today.

Thank you Jesus for never giving up on me, even when if I give up on myself. Thank you Jesus for giving us your life, for the gift of the Holy Spirit, for being our intercessor (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:26). Thank you Jesus for loving us unconditionally. Thank you Jesus for Dave … for his heart of love & worship for you, for his devotionals, for his music, for his honesty & for his witness. Bless us Lord so we can continue to be the community you’ve created us to be, your disciples, a blessing to others as brothers & sisters in your love … this I pray in your name Lord Jesus … Amen!
