PRAYER: Please pray for our study of the Holy Spirit.
DEVOTION: Today we begin a study into the Holy Spirit. I’ve settled on a book by Smith Wigglesworth. He was a British Evangelist and was one of the pioneers of the Pentecostal revival over 100 years ago. The book is called On the Holy Spirit. I’ll be quoting a few passages here and there for sure.
Say what you will about the Holy Spirit but there is definitely a mystery surrounding it and our understanding of it.
First point to make is that we are dead to sin and alive to God by His Spirit. The Spirit that lives in us and was left for us by Jesus.
John 14:26 – “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
It’s as if our possession of the Holy Spirit empowers us to be new creations, new people. There is a strength that is put in us by the Spirit of God.
I know. A lot to take in, and it’s only Day 1.
But, let’s start here. The triune God consists of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
This is the start. The Spirit exists. Living in us and around us. Living through us.
Let’s find the faith and trust to take baby steps toward a belief and acknowledgement that the Holy Spirit exists in our lives.
Prayers up for us all as we begin.
