6.7.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 3:18-19. Confident?

PRAYER: Please continue to pray for our nation and our leaders.

DEVOTION: “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.” 1 John‬ ‭3:18-19.

So we will be confident when we stand before God.”

Does that sentence scare anyone else?

I remember when I was first starting out in corporate America I had meetings with the boss or CEO’s of companies. It was intimidating. These were powerful women and men. They has the ability to make or break a deal.

John casually slips in this sentence about standing before God. That’s a much bigger meeting than standing before some corporate CEO. He’s the creator of the Universe. Yes, there should be fear but also, dare I say, confidence. He is our loving Father, our Abba. We should be able to come to Him with anything. Stand before Him with the forgiveness and mercy and grace that is so true to His character.

We are loved. Standing before God, yes intimidating for sure, but also, exciting. This God, who so patiently works with us and lovingly cares for us, wants to know our stories, wants to be a part of our stories.

Who are we that He should be mindful of us. But He is.

Be confident today. God is for you. God is with you.

I love the language in the scriptures….and the consistency….for ‘b’ to happen I have to do ‘a’….God’s love isn’t conditional, it just is …however, if I want hope, peace, healing, prosperity, or any of the promises then I need to read, understand, and do ‘a’. Later on John uses the words ‘and this is the confidence we have in him’ to start off one of my favorite scriptures. I have confidence in God, I want to have confidence in me…..so I choose actions wisely…well, I try to

Be strong in knowing that you are filled with the holy spirit. Be confident in knowing he is with you every step. Share God’s words with others that will hear. Help heal those that struggle with the concept and knowing God. For they are the lost sheep. Be a disciple and lay the groundwork for Jesus to walk the lost on a better path. Amen
