6.6.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 3:16-17. Action.

PRAYER: Please pray for our graduates.

DEVOTION: “We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16-17

The examples are so numerous. Examples of Jesus teaching us not just verbally but in actions as well. Jesus gave up his life for us. We should do the same.

Such a compelling and convicting verse. Go, be Jesus in another persons life. Yeah but…..how?

Good question. A few responses.

Listening. Maybe just being there helps. Serving. We are called to serve others in Jesus name. Giving. How can you give today, not just monetarily, but in time, hope, mercy, grace. Love. Do you practice and preach love every day in other people’s lives?

The list can go on but this is meant to pose just a few ideas to get the conversation going.

Thoughts? Any of these something that you already do and take part in?

God, give us hearts to change. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear you in it all.

Sometimes, my options for helping others are limited but, I can always listen and share scripture. I had to be encouraged, by a few people…and often….to not only accept that this sharing is “good enough” but it could be exactly what is needed. So I listen… but only for a short time….people can get trapped in misery, anger, sickness, heartache….I know I did…I would tell the story instead of looking for the answer…staying in misery can open the wrong doors….putting our sorrow first, if our words and thoughts are on us, we are sinning.

Philippians 4:6-7 The Passion Translation (TPT)
6 Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, 7 then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.

That scripture was my answer…so now, to show love, I share this and other scriptures that apply to the persons trouble….a quick Google search or the Topical Bible website provides enough scripture to plant a seed. It’s not my job to fix anyone…Jesus did that on the cross…but sometimes, no matter how well versed, we just need fellowship…and the reminder that God loves us.
