6.4.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 3:13. The world.

PRAYER: Please pray for a member of our MNW crowd who is going through a tough time right now.

DEVOTION: “So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.”
– ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:13

Hate. Pretty strong word and yet something that definitely is a factor when taking about how the world reacts to the idea of Jesus sometimes.

Here’s a quote that I found online.

John’s teaching reflects Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 3:12: “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” The reason for this persecution is the same reason Cain killed Abel: because the world is evil and it hates goodness. There is a hateful jealousy in sin, which despises seeing others do what is right.”

John’s continuation here and his urging us to be righteous is reflected here as well. Our righteousness will cause the world to hate us. To not understand us. But it’s not the world that we are trying to please is it? No. Our calling is higher than anything the world can offer.

We seek Jesus. Plain and simple. We seek His wise counsel and guidance. We seek His life changing words.

We seek Jesus.
