6.29.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 5:7. Definite.

PRAYER: Please pray for the requests tonight on our livestream. Healing and strength needed.

DEVOTION: “So we have these three witnesses — the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree. Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son.” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:7-9‬

The testimony of God is greater than that of men. Seems almost an unnecessary statement but thinking about Johns audience at the time, maybe it needed to be mentioned.

Thinking about our audience. We all need a little reminding don’t we. We all need reminding of the incredible generosity and goodness of God. Reminders of his mercy and grace and love. All of it.

We sometimes get distracted and sidetracked on our walk with God. John here reminds us of the definitiveness of the Father.

Today. Believe in the definitive work of God.

Twice in the Old Testament and once in the New, the Word says two or three witnesses are required

    Deuteronomy 17:6
6 On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

    Deuteronomy 19:15
15 One witness is not enough to convict anyone accused of any crime or offense they may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.

    1 Timothy 5:19
19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.

In his book The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel tries to disprove the Resurrection of Christ. There was too much consistency and agreement in the 4 Gospels, by eyewitnesses to dispute. Mr. Stobel, an atheist, eventually accepts Christ as his savior.

Our ever faithful God is true to His Word by giving us the 3 witnesses.

Love that book. Read it many many years ago and the case that he states is incredibly compelling. So much so that it changed his mind. Brilliant. God is moving in so many ways…..
