6.28.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 5:6. Evidence.

PRAYER: Please pray for this week. That we would continue to seek God in the midst of all of it.

DEVOTION: “And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross —not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. So we have these three witnesses. the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree.” – 1 John‬ ‭5:6-8‬

This section of 1 John explains some of the evidence that Jesus Christ is, in fact, the Son of God. God’s voice at Jesus’ baptism, the events of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the internal witness of the Holy Spirit are all described. Because of this multi-part testimony, Christians can have confidence in what they have been taught. Those who reject these facts, in effect, accuse God of lying.

I found this online as a bit of an explanation as to what’s happening here. The evidence of Jesus’ existence and his walk here on earth continues to pile up.

The beauty of passages like this is that they further bolster our proclamation of a risen Jesus. The baptism by John represents the water that he speaks of here and the blood represents his blood shed on the cross. Johns first hand witness of these two actions are documented once again.

Today, proclaim Jesus as you go about it daily life. Use words if you have to.
