6.26.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 5:2-3. Find love.

PRAYER: Please pray for continued direction in all of our lives. That we, as a community, will find new ways to reach new people with the lifesaving message of Jesus.

DEVOTION: “This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” – 1 John 5:2-3.

I’ll reiterate that the word “love” is used 53 times in this book. Seems like every verse we’ve been hitting over the past chapter has contained the word.

So….John continues to point out that love is the answer. If we love God, our love carries over to loving others. Loving the children of God. We are carrying out the commands of God when we love others. When we love each other. It’s not something that is suggested, this is a command of God. We as followers of Jesus keep His commands. We are called to keep his commands.

Again, it’s not an easy command all the time. There are days when loving does not come easily. Days when love is the furthest thing from our minds. Yet, God calls us to call on Him to help us to love others. He commands, requires us to love.

So….how do we love when love doesn’t fit into our schedule. We remember Him. Remember to pray. Remember the sacrifice. Remember the command. We ask God to help us love. Help us overcome our apathy in the moment or overcome our fear. Not sure what the situation might be but….we invite God into it.

So today. Obey the command. Find love in all of it.
