PRAYER: Please pray for Dena tonight.
DEVOTION: “If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.” – 1 John 4:20-21
If we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God whom we cannot see?
The two go hand in hand. Once again John is driving home this point. Our love is a reflection of God. It can’t exist without God. The author of love has to exist in our lives in order for our love to be. In order for it to exist.
We don’t have a choice in the matter.
Our lives must be filled with love. With the love of God.
When my kids were born, this immediate love came over me. There was no question, no conversation about if or how I was going to love them. It just was. The love existed because I didn’t have a choice. It didn’t give me a choice, nor did I want one.
Oh that we might feel this same way to our fellow man. Love without attachments. Without strings to pull. Without expecting anything.
God. That our love might reflect you in it all.
