6.2.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 3:9-10. Heart.

PRAYER: Please pray for peaceful protests today. That the message would be heard without the violence.

DEVOTION: “Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:9-10‬

The heart of God. At its core I think is love. Love for all of us. Love for his creation.

John clearly states toward the end of this verse that we are to love others, if we don’t, we do not belong to God. Kind of makes sense. If the heart of the father is love, the the heart of the follower should be love.

Our calling, our desire, our lives should reflect this love. We should be reflecting the heart of the father wherever we go. Our sin should be trumped by our love. Our sin, yes it will always be there, should be trumped by our desire to walk with God. Our sin, is trumped by Jesus. Our hearts should be changed by his love.

Are they? Is yours? Do you feel the heart of God beating in you? Do you feel the heart of God guiding you, keeping you from the sin that so easily ensnares is?

Love. Be a reflection. Be free. God walks with us. God walks through us. God walks beside us. Be a child of God. Let the love that shines from Him be the love that shines from you.

The Devil is working hard, to divide and defeat us.
Tell him you are a Child of God! Show people the love of Jesus, even when you “feel” they don’t deserve it.

We are called to “love”, we are not called to “like”!

I am so looking forward to studying, as a group, about the Holy Spirit. I was talking with another MNW’er about peace….in the OT there was so much war and anguish, not a lot of peace. But….Jesus! He changed all that, the Prince of Peace taught us about LOVE. Then He ascended and gave us the Holy Spirit, to live inside, to grow us up. In the OT the spirit came upon people…we, as followers of Christ, now carry Him within…direct access to God. For me and maybe others, It is not always easy to love, we have to lay ourselves down to love in all seasons. Walking in he spirit allows me to show God’s love, to be led by His truths even during the times when my own thoughts are fighting to come out.
