PRAYER: Please pray for those less fortunate. It was a beautiful day today here in NJ and I couldn’t help but think that there are so many who don’t live in the luxury that we live in here in the US.
DEVOTION: “Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.” – 1 John 3:2-3
Already God’s children? First of all, that leaves me speechless…let’s just stop there 🙂
Imagine what it will be like when Christ appears. I can’t even begin to fathom the incredible-ness of this moment. What will it be like? Can’t even imagine…..
But….we will be like him. That is a very sobering and beautiful thought. That we, in our broken down and clunky bodies will be like Jesus. The pain. The hurt. The addictions. The grief. The temptations. The sin. Will be gone. All of it.
Then… verse three hits. Those of us expecting this….are to remain pure just as he is pure. Hit the brakes. So….pure. Interesting word. Something I’m not, you’re not. None of us are….but….we can be through the redeeming and saving grace of Jesus.
Left to our own devices and relying on our own will, we can not be pure. It just doesn’t happen. But….with Jesus on our side, pleading our case, purity happens. His blood shed for me, for you, was shed to wash us clean….
Oh. The sheer joy if it all is overwhelming. We are pure even in our filth.
Praise be to God.
