DEVOTION: “And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame. Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children.” – 1 John 2:28-29
So John is really hitting this topic hard here. This idea of constant fellowship and remaining in fellowship with Christ is extremely important.
Our distractions and our own agendas are increasingly prevalent in our lives. How often do you get sidetracked each day? Pulled into another conversation or project? Pulled away from something you were supposed to do? We have to fight for our time. Fight against our distractions and our egos.
I think this is why John is so set on making this such a large chunk of this chapter. His constant reminder that we need to be in fellowship with Jesus is critical.
So….this begs the question. Are you in fellowship with him enough? What wins each day? Work? Reading? Netflix? Your phone? Video games? Other projects?
It’s hard. But….find the time today. Find the time to give more time. Find the time to spend more time with the author of time. The author of space and the author of our lives.
