5.22.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 2:23. Teaching.

PRAYER: Please pray for the many requests that we had tonight on our live-stream. God knows them all.

DEVOTION: “So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:24‬

It’s amazing how kids learn. They are like little sponges that hold everything. They are malleable and bendable. They don’t form opinions based on fragments of information. They just believe.

As we get older, it’s a little more difficult to take in so much information. We question more. We research and need proof. We just need more information.

So John speaks on teaching. On what was taught from the beginning. The foundational teachings of Jesus and what we have learned from the Bible. If we stay faithful to that, to what was taught, then we stay in fellowship with Jesus.

So. Have we kept to the curriculum? Are we sticking with the teaching of Jesus?

That’s the question isn’t it. Takes a little soul searching to come back with an answer.

Think about it.

I often think back, on the day I was saved. I was 8 years old, praying with my Dad, for my Mom who had just attempted suicide. I heard God say, “You are loved, wanted and you belong to me”
I needed to hear that, because my 8 year thought was, “she doesn’t want to be my Mommy anymore.” As an only child, it was sad time in my life.
I go back to that time in my life, to remind me, if I follow His son Jesus, I will never be alone. I will have a purpose. And it is my mission as a disciple, to spread the Good News.
No matter how old I am, I am always a child of God.

Trust in Jesus’ way. It is the right way whether we want it to be or not. He guides us through every up and down. We just need to be willing to listen and take guidance from him not our worldly knowledge. Be at peace with his words for they speak volumes.

Amen !!!! Like so many other verses in !st John, so many things are stated in one single verse, ………remain faithful….to all taught from the beginning………….even when all the doubts bombard your soul , as Dave so beautifully explained in the video devotion this morning, we all have doubts sometimes, and when sad stories of believers with a national platform state they no longer believe in God, ……………..keep on believing……..it states in another modern vernacular, ….Believe… it continues …..and you will remain in fellowship with the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit ! Praying for all in this community and for all in the body of Christ………to be able to trust all God says in His Word…..and look to Jesus…….the ONE who remains faithful………….no matter the storm, trial , the problem…….turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face…..and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace. Amen Continuing in prayer for all !!!!!
