5.17.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 2:16. The World (Part 2)

PRAYER: Please pray for our friend Peggy! It was her birthday on Sunday!

DEVOTION: “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” – 1 John‬ ‭2:16‬

Oh John. You continue to nail it here. If only we could listen and really live this!

These verses are so dense, I was trying double up on a few of them but find it impossible. There is so much relevance in and around these words that we can’t skip over anything. These are important and such usable and functional points.

Our lives are so worldly. We live here so they kind of have to be and yet….John is making these statements about the condition of the world that we live in.

Physical pleasure. Cravings. Pride. Lack of humility. Egoism. Love of self above others. I’m sure he could have made this list very very long. But the point is made. These are not the things to strive for. These are not from the father. They are from the world.

Since we are not from this world. Our citizenship is in heaven, we should not be influenced and shaped by the world.

We need to strive for things of God. Peace. Hope. Love. Humility. Kindness. This list goes on.

Today. Strive for God. Strive for his traits and characteristics in your life.

I am an only child. I have been divorced since 2008, and live alone. I have purposely not dated in over 10 years. I made a commitment to God, on my birthday, January 10th, 2010. If I could be healed from injuries, obtained in a car accident, I would commit myself to His ministry. That meant total focus on Him!
I have to boldness to tell everyone now, that I am lead by the Holy Spirit. I have been a follower of Jesus for over 51 years, but now He completes me in a way, that is hard to put into words. I live in this world, for Him.
I meditate on Jeremiah 1:5, when this world attempts to knock me down.

Jesus was always at peace because He was all about the Father. John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. Even though my time here, on this earth, is temporary I want peace..everyday..through every situation…. such a simple answer yet still… it can be a struggle
