5.11.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 2:9-10. More light.

PRAYER: Please pray for so many requests tonight on our Monday Night Worship broadcast. God, hear our prayers.

DEVOTION: “If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is still living in darkness. Anyone who loves a fellow believer is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble.” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:9-10‬

Once again, love. Once again, a comment on love being a reflection of the light. Jesus our light, teaches us love. When we love another we are acting in the light. In the example that he teaches. We are being a reflection of Him.

If you caught our broadcast tonight we spoke at length on this. Jesus, the light of the world who leads us by example.

I know that darkness loves to creep in. Loves to steer us in its direction and lead us into alleys and crevices that we shouldn’t be going into. These times force us to rest in the light and strive to make it shine brighter. To not give into temptation, into sin.

Today. Ask Jesus for light. Ask for light in the darkness. Light in the recesses of your darkness.

God. Hear our prayer.

    Amen..I was thinking all day yesterday about the love of Jesus..how it makes me feel…safe, accepted, hopeful, joyous. More so, I was thinking about how difficult in can be, at times, to love. In this season, we are thrown together …not just with family but neighbors. My landscaper has not come yet…I am hoping my neighbors are loving me anyway. ..there are posts after posts on Facebook about people complaining about people…Christ be magnified instead of human flaws…God knew it would not always be easy to love…that why He commands instead of suggesting….and then..it gets even harder because we are supposed to love our politicians, the people in the media, the people who are lying to us, outspoken activists that we disagree with…people who are deliberate threats to us…ouch…We love because God first loved us…Jesus died for love..the Heavenly Kingdom operates through love, our love opens doors, shines the light..who needs it more than the people who are the hardest to love. As I searching for scripture I found that John will get into later on…so I jumped into it too soon but it is what is on my mind..

    I need the light of Jesus to keep from being sucked into all the darkness out there! It’s a strange time in the lab. Usually there is no time to think about anything but getting an abundance of work done. Now we wait and hope for more work praying that the whatever has brought the person in is not this plague. There is anxiety in the waiting for work. Who knew? So I find myself avoid the news and the dark things on social media and digging deeper into study and worship. Never did I think I would have time at work to participate in worship 3 nights a week in the middle of my shift! It’s what keeps the fatigue of boredom and keeps contagious anxiety away. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be caught in the middle of all this madness without Jesus.!

    One of my favorite Martin Luther King Jr sayings;
    “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, and Light can do that,
    Hate cannot drive out hate, only Love can do that”

      I love that one too. Great quote!
