5.10.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 2:8. Light and love.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! Hope all of you amazing moms had a great day! Prayers up for each and every one of you.

DEVOTION: “Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.” – ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:8‬

John is speaking on how the commandment yesterday, to love one another, is not just an old commandment but a new one as well. Once again pointing out Jesus’ example of love. How he lives it out and leads us by example.

The light is shining. It always had been. We read tonight on our Worship Underground concert.

but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.” – ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:12‬

In Jesus there is no darkness. It doesn’t exist. It’s only light. So when we say that we are seeking Him, we are seeking light. We are seeking a light to shine into the darkness in our lives. In our hearts. In our souls.

Jesus is that light. He’s the only light there is. The only light that can pierce and shatter the darkness that tries so often to close in on us.

Today. Practice love. Be led by example. The example that Jesus set for us. Let his light of love shine deep into your life.

Twice I a week, in an email, I get a devotional taken the Passion translation….I just read this…

Beloved of my heart, listen to the voice of your Father. I have set my love upon you and will never forget the way you have loved me through your difficulties. Though you face a clouded dawn, the light of love will break through the clouds and shine upon you. In this new day, I give you my promise: I am bringing you forward. What has hindered you in the past will soon be forgotten as the hope of a new day is made real to you.

Today, this day, Lord, you have given me my daily bread…help me to extend Your love to others…to You be the Glory…light my path
