5.1.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 1 John 1:1-4. Life and joy.

PRAYER: Please pray for an end to all of this. That God would have mercy on our land.

DEVOTION: “We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:1-4‬

Today we begin a study and walk through of 1 John. The epistle is traditionally held to have been composed by John the Evangelist, at Ephesus, when the writer was in advanced age. The epistle’s content, language and conceptual style are very similar to the Gospel of John, 2 John, and 3 John.

A little jealous of John here. To proclaim that he saw and heard Jesus is pretty exciting. Pretty mind blowing actually. The beauty of the statement means that this is a first hand account which is incredibly important.

He is the word of life. He is life itself. As I read this my heart leapt. To drink water is life giving. To eat food is life giving. Jesus commands us to do both. In communion we take of the bread and the wine in remembrance of Him. In remembrance of his life, given to us. His life taken away so that we could have life. Don’t miss that.

John writes so that we may share his joy. Share the joy that he feels from sharing moments with Christ. Sharing time with him.

Let us relate to that as we share moments with Christ. Share joy with Christ. In our devotions and meditations. In our study and proclamation of his words.

Let it bring joy to us all.

I have not been reading your devotionals and the Holy Spirit said “read this” and it did not all sink in yet. No surprise. I am hear to say thank you, while listening to you talk about the “livestream”, while having last night’s broadcast on YouTube.

I have seen a couple of videos on Facebook this morning. One of a man whose son committed suicide, true story, and one where a drama showed a women’s selfless act.

Can we make one of act of Christ-like behaviour today EVEN if we make 99 non-Christ-like acts?

John 20:29 The Passion Translation (TPT)
29 Jesus responded, “Thomas, now that you’ve seen me, you believe. But there are those who have never seen me with their eyes but have believed in me with their hearts, and they will be blessed even more!”
I have thought about what it would have been like to walk with Jesus, the man. This scripture brings me solace (and that I have electricity and running water…not more important, just a nice perk
    😉 )

I seek joy, it is our strength! It is also our choice to make our day, the situation, and our life joyful. We can walk with the Holy Spirit, the God part Jesus left for us or we can walk with our selves, carrying whatever it is that blocks joy. … I won’t say it’s easy but it can be done.

The part that captures my heart is when Jesus was taken from us so we can life. He spoke the truth and showed the world of his miracles and this world needs Jesus everyday not only when tragedy happens we seek him. His love endures forever when we go to him in prayer and praise him in Thanksgiving everyday we walk the earth. My prayer… Dear father God I pray with a sincere heart ❤ our land will be healed from this CV and the so many destruction that draw us in directions which is not of you enlighten the hearts of those who hold evil ways strengthen them in mind, body, spirit to know of you and the goodness of our father God have mercy on our land and shield the broken, homeless, and to everyone who just needs to feel your Love, In Jesus name! 🙏
