PRAYER: Please pray for those struggling with fear and anxiety.
DEVOTION: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
Today we release the single Fear Not. Kind of timely in this climate. This verse, written thousands of years ago was one of the inspirations for the song. This and the 300 or so other times that we are told to not be afraid throughout the Bible. Fear is a big topic in the good book. It’s something that is discussed often.
So today. Our society is gripped with fear. Fear of the virus, fear of the economy or lack thereof, fear of the future. This list goes on. Yet, on all of it, these ancient words from this Ancient tome remind us that ancient ideas are still incredible relevant in our modern society.
We are believers in Jesus. That means that we trust. We have faith. If that does hold true, our fear should be tempered by the very faith and trust that we say we hold so dear.
So today. Are you letting fear in? Are you letting it wrap it’s cold, frosty fingers around your wrist and pull you into its deception, it’s lies, it’s deceit?
I trust these words in Isaiah. I trust that God overturns the dismay that we sometimes feel. I trust the strength he brings us, I trust his righteous hand.
Even when it feels like he’s not there.
