4.21.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. Jeremiah 2:25. Change?

PRAYER: Please pray for our churches and pastors. That they would continue to innovate and lead more people to Jesus during this time.

DEVOTION: “When will you stop running? When will you stop panting after other gods? But you say, ‘Save your breath. I’m in love with these foreign gods, and I can’t stop loving them now!’” – Jeremiah‬ ‭2:25

Interesting verse here. This phrase “panting after other gods”. Isn’t that where we were before this pandemic hit? Running. Fast. To get to the next event, party, work day, service.

Now. We are forced to stay home. To stop. Slow down for a minute and given the opportunity to let God in, maybe, more than He’s ever been let in before. And it’s changing some of your lives. Some of my life. Priorities shift. Time is spent differently. The “rat race” is not so much a race as a slow trot.

I’m not making light of the situation. There are dire events happening right outside our doors. But….things are changing behind the door of our hearts. Maybe God is working in ways that you never thought he would. Maybe…

Be open to the change. Be open to the voice of your Father calling you and leading you closer to the you that you’re supposed to be.

I heard a quote on a TV show…the only constant, is change….I like the quote, it’s poetic. This morning , I was listening to ‘Abba, Father’ one line says, “you’re my reality”…I just love that line, love the song…I realized that the quote is wrong; God is the only constant…He may change us but He is rock steady. I find comfort in that….it makes the idea of being changed less scary.

Suzanne, yes, i’ve heard that quote before too, like it but agree, God is the only constant in all of the change that continues to surround us.

As a traveling technologist my ‘world’ changes every 13 weeks when my assignment ends but my one constant is God. He never changes and He is always there for me! With each assignment everything changes. The place, the church, the people, the job, sometimes good sometimes not so good but God is always there in the midst to get me through! I am so grateful!

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. Hang on to him and he will guide you where you need to be. Put your full trust in him and he is your pilot and savior. He will overflow your cup. In his holy name. Amen

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

I delight in having this promise from Psalm 139. Search me! USE ME, God!!
