3.27.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. Psalm 91:6. Dread?

PRAYER: Please pray for an end to this pandemic. Gods mercy on our land.

DEVOTION: “Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.” – Psalm 91:6

We are currently living this verse. There is this unknown that is stalking in the darkness. No one is immune to it and lives are at risk. Yet, Moses calls on the Lord and states that we should not dread this unknown disease in the darkness. Nor dread disaster.

These are tall orders. It’s human nature to be afraid of this type of enemy. Yes, it is. Yet, we are told here that we shouldn’t be afraid. So who are we going to believe? Our own instincts and ideas or….the God who made the universe, who made the sunsets close out the day and the sunrise mark it’s beginning. The God who knows you better than you know yourself. The God who knows the number of hairs on your head and knew who you were before you were born.

I’ll put my money on the latter. I want to trust Him more in all of this and rely on His strength, His certainty His reliability.

God, increase our faith. Increase our desire to know you and remove the apathy that can so easily settle in.

Today. Choose. Fear and uncertainty or strength, reliability and certainty. For me there is one clear answer.

I have been sick, very very sick, I have cried out to Jesus in fear and desperation. He was there. I won’t downplay the severity of this virus but I will shout louder about the power of my God. I KNOW what he can do, I have seen His command over disease. I can capture the fear, reign it in and toss it back to where it belongs.
