PRAYER: Please pray for an end to this pandemic. Pray for mercy. Pray for healing. Pray for hope.
DEVOTION: “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” – Psalm 91:2
Trust. There’s that word again, it keeps coming up in my life. So many times I’ve been stumbling over this word…in the last few weeks and months. Trust. Let’s look at it.
Trust (noun); firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
So, the Psalmist here is giving us his unwavering statement about his trust in the Lord. Saying that the Lord is his refuge, his fortress. Someone in whom He trusts. So. That begs the question. Do we trust him as the Psalmist did?
A refuge is defined as a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
How incredibly fitting is all of this in the times that we are in. Moses, the author of Psalm 91 is stating some serious truths here. He is putting into writing his faith, trust & hope in the Lord. Stating it, writing it down so that it stays permanent. It’s not a fleeting thought or an idea. It’s a fact in his mind. A permanent statement.
He trusts the Lord. He takes refuge in the Lord. He states that the Lord is his fortress.
Powerful! How incredibly relevant is the Bible in this day and age. How relevant is just this short Psalm.
Today. Tonight. This morning. Whenever you are reading this. Read it again and again. Meditate on it. The Lord is our strength. Our hope. Our fortress. Our refuge. Someone who is deserving of our trust. Lean into this in a powerful way. Let the words soak into your soul. Soak into your heart. Soak into your fear. Into your anxiety. Into your stress. Let these words soak deep into who you are. God is our refuge and our fortress. In Him we can trust. Today.
