2.24.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. Philippians 4:8. Thoughts.

PRAYER: Please pray for these upcoming shows next week. That God would move in all of them. That kids would be sponsored and that hearts would be turned to Jesus.

DEVOTION: “Finally, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.” – Philippians 4: 8

Our thoughts. How they wander from subject to subject, from scene to scene and from good to bad….sometimes in an instant.

Paul warns us here against wandering thoughts and urges us to focus on the following.

What is true.

What is right.

What is noble.

What is pure.

What is lovely.

What is admirable.

What is excellent.

What is praiseworthy.

I’m sure we could all go down this list and find things that fit each category. But… the main point to focus on is, what rules our thoughts? You see, our thoughts dictate our actions which dictate our perception by other people.

Are our thoughts pure, right, excellent, praiseworthy? Do those thoughts make us perform tasks that are pure, right, excellent, praiseworthy? Do those tasks point people to Jesus? Do they see him in us? Are we a reflection of Him?

The quick answer? And be honest….is not really all the time. So, let’s pray for these things. Let’s pray that God would guide our thoughts, our actions.

Today. God we lift you up. We strive to be more like you. Guide our thoughts and our actions to be more reflective of you….

    I think this is a great companion scripture…Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5 …both scripture are telling us we have control over our thoughts, choose wisely by letting the renewing of our mind through Christ.
