2.15.21 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on Matthew. Part 20. Crowds.

I hope you’re enjoying this study on Matthew. It’s been fascinating so far to really dive into this.

Matthew 4:23-25 speaks of Jesus’ healing and how he basically went viral at the time. Massive crowds were following him, people were getting saved, people were getting healed. It must have been absolutely incredible.

“As Jesus traveled around Galilee with His disciples, He proclaimed the good news that the kingdom of heaven was near. As the promised Messiah, He demonstrated the truthfulness of His teaching by miraculously healing every kind of disease and affliction. In doing so, he was giving the people a glimpse into the kingdom of heaven itself, in which there is no disease or affliction (1 Corinthians 15:42–43; Revelation 21:4)”

Kind of a fascinating account of all that was happening. I’m not sure I’ve ever looked at it this way but during this time, while all of this was going on, Jesus was giving folks a glimpse into the kingdom of heaven itself. No disease, no affliction.

This was literally heaven on earth. Jesus brought heaven to earth. And Matthew, in the midst of it all was taking notes. Writing it down. So that you and I and so many others, could read about it, study it, make it a part of our lives so that we can continue to live it out every single day.

It’s remarkable. Truly remarkable how this is all set up.

Today, read through Matthew 4:23-25 and then close your eyes and just imagine the scene, imagine yourself being there. In the midst of the crowd, hearing the cries of those who were sick and then the same awestruck cries of those who were healed. Feel the bodies as they move around you, everyone trying to get closer and closer to Jesus. To witness the power, the mercy, the grace, the love, the healing, the never before scene incredibleness of all that he brought with him.

This…is Jesus. He brings this to us each and every day.

We all need to be healed in some way. Reach out for him and he will begin your healing; if you believe. Put your trust in him.
