DEVOTION: “To put ourselves on a personal footing with God could be nothing but presumption and illusion. We are taught that it is not, that it is for God who gives us that footing. For it is by the Holy Spirit that we cry Father. By unveiling, by confessing our sins and making known our requests we assume the high rank of persons before Him. And He, descending, becomes a person to us.” (pg 34)
Then Lewis goes on to say this….
“I should not have said “becomes”. In Him there is no becoming. He reveals Himself as a person; or reveals that in Him which is Person.”
To think a little deeper here, our God is so incredible and awe inspiring that to say that He “becomes” anything is ignorant and not the right way to put it. There actually are no words that describe Him as He is beyond words. Yet, in His goodness and love for us, He gives us Jesus in order that we may have some way to “personalize” God. To personalize who He is and His nature.
There is so much to learn from Jesus that applies to every day life because He literally walked on Earth as a man. He was the example for us. The true and only One that we should be following and imitating. All that the world has to offer pales in comparison…like really pales…to what Jesus taught us and teaches us every day.
This is an incredibly long discussion but today….seek Jesus. Seek Him in it all.
Our God, in His incredible goodness, gave us Jesus. For that….I’m speechless.
