12.28.19 – Daily Dose of Worship. Ephesians 6:19-20. Fear

PRAYER: As we enter the new year, pray for direction.

DEVOTION: “Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” – Ephesians‬ ‭6:19-20

Fear. Such a crippling word. One that slows progress. One that halts intent. One that captures initiative and holds it for ransom.

Paul is asking for fearlessness. Asking for the courage to declare the gospel. Asking for prayer so that he can continue to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. As he should.

His fear is that he won’t be able to speak on Jesus. His fear is that he won’t be able to make known the mystery of the gospel.

An ambassador in chains is what he calls himself. An ambassador is one who proclaims something. One whose desire is to proclaim. One who has the freedom to proclaim or is charged with the proclamation. Paul has used this chains reference before. He is in chains for Jesus. A self proclaimed and self imprisoned prisoner.

Today. Be fearless. Let the gospel of Jesus be known in your life. Known to others by your actions and your words. Fear not.
