DEVOTION: “When we are praying about the result, say, of a medical consultation, the thought will often cross our minds that the event is already decided one way or the other. I believe this to be no good reason for ceasing our prayers. The event certainly has been decided in a sense it was decided “before all worlds.” But one of the things taken into account in deciding it, and therefore one of the things that really cause it to happen, may be this very prayer that we are not offering. (pg53)
Never stop praying.
That’s the point taken from this paragraph and from this book.
Yes, this thought of God already knowing the outcome of the event that we are praying for, the sickness, the finances, the ___________ is indeed true. But….our prayers may very well be part of the process.
They may be the reason that God changes His mind or alters the outcome.
It’s a reason to keep on praying. It’s a reason to believe in the power of prayer. It’s a reason to continue the conversation with our Father each and every day. Our prayers…move His heart.
And…I really believe that prayers help me believe more. They help me focus more on Jesus in my life. The belief that this all knowing, incredibly personal God that I’m praying to actually wants me to chat with Him is humbling and exciting all at the same time.
So please don’t look at prayer as just a means to an end. There’s so much more to it and it means so very much more than, I think, we’ll ever know.
