12.16.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 31. Stop praying?

DEVOTION: “When we are praying about the result, say, of a medical consultation, the thought will often cross our minds that the event is already decided one way or the other. I believe this to be no good reason for ceasing our prayers. The event certainly has been decided in a sense it was decided “before all worlds.” But one of the things taken into account in deciding it, and therefore one of the things that really cause it to happen, may be this very prayer that we are not offering. (pg53)

Never stop praying.

That’s the point taken from this paragraph and from this book.

Yes, this thought of God already knowing the outcome of the event that we are praying for, the sickness, the finances, the ___________ is indeed true. But….our prayers may very well be part of the process.

They may be the reason that God changes His mind or alters the outcome.

It’s a reason to keep on praying. It’s a reason to believe in the power of prayer. It’s a reason to continue the conversation with our Father each and every day. Our prayers…move His heart.

And…I really believe that prayers help me believe more. They help me focus more on Jesus in my life. The belief that this all knowing, incredibly personal God that I’m praying to actually wants me to chat with Him is humbling and exciting all at the same time.

So please don’t look at prayer as just a means to an end. There’s so much more to it and it means so very much more than, I think, we’ll ever know.

I honestly don’t think that I have ever considered , to stop praying , because the Lord already knows the outcome. Even after the cancer diagnosis, I would pray, : I will not die, but I will live and declare the works of the Lord, , oh this too, is in Psalm 118, in vs 17 . Its a continuous dialogue throughout the day, and I try to begin with thanksgiving. ” This is the day the Lord has made, and I will be glad and rejoice in it. .” When I put on a worship cd or album we can just continue to thank and Praise God , for hours and hours, And just speaking God’s word back to him always helps me focus, especially for a need , such as when I have a need, or am praying for someone else who has a need I pray, Phil 4:19 ” And my God shall supply all my need, their need, {emotional, physical, financial, spiritual} all our needs, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ” If I start to worry or be overly concerned about something, I can say ” I wont be anxious about anything, for by prayer and supplication , I bring this need to You Lord and thank You because I know,( Phil 4-6) You are concerned with all that concerns me , Psalm 138:8 , the bible is the best prayer book I know! ” I make my life a prayer to You, I want to do what You want me to , no empty words, and no white lies, no token prayers, no compromise. I want to shine the light You gave, through Your Son You sent to save us , from ourselves and our despair, it comforts me to know Your really there……………..praying songs, ………….the gift God gives us, songs to sing and pray back to Him, ……….. …..CS Lewis , is very technical I find in his logical and analytical way of approaching prayer, brilliant minds must be like that…….

Praying helps clear the soul and fill your heart knowing those prayers are being sent out and prayed over. It is amazing to have prayer warriors. God is good
