11.7.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 119. Away.

DEVOTION: “I want to speak now about lust. I’m not speaking about the base things, the carnal desires. I’m not speaking so much about adultery, fornication, and such things, but I am speaking about what has turned you aside to some other thing instead of God. God has been offering you better things all the time, and you have missed them.” (Pg 199)

What has turned you aside, or pulled you away from God?

That’s the devotion for today. Take a minute. Sit. Just sit and think about what is pulling you away from God. Away from Him working more and more in your life.

Be honest. Be still.

What is pulling you away from God?

Slow and steady wins the race….or that is what I tell myself. For me it’s usually a couple baby steps forward and a pretty big one back!

Work in progress. One big thing for me was when I went to a class one day and was told that give things of God is what we are called to do.. The world will take are of the rest. Got to thinking on that lots. What do I give to. Is there Christ in that message? If not someone else will take care of it. That goes for many gifts I give now too. I can admit not all. But many. I’m working more towards that. My Mom and I have started an account we both use for this. We call it our giving to God account. When doing or giving from that account it has to include God in it.
Yet in finding these things or listening to what God is calling us to do… Sometimes is a challenge. Sometimes we find more than we have money for. Then we have to prioritize. Other times we are waiting on God. Sitting praying, talking to God… This has definitely helped me in this area. Always looking for other ideas to get closer and how you do it too. Hope you will share as well.

I catch myself doing the same thing. I read devotions daily. I pray daily but often finding myself and my mind wandering and start praying on subjects that are to do to things that are stress-related and not on the things that I should be praying.
