11.29.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 15. The battle.

DEVOTION: When God becomes man, that Man, of all others, is least comforted by God, at His greatest need. There is a mystery here which, even if I had the power, I might not have the courage to explore. Meanwhile, little people like you and me, if our prayers are sometimes granted, beyond all hope and probability, had better not draw hasty conclusions to our own advantage. If we were stronger, we might be less tenderly treated. If we were braver, we might be sent, with far less help, to defend far more desperate posts in the great battle. (Pg 14)

So, there’s so much in this paragraph but….read it again and then focus on the end.

Are you brave? Do you consider yourself brave?

Read that sentence again. “If we were braver, we might be sent, with far less help, to defend far more desperate posts in the great battle.”

The battle is daily. Some of us are on the front lines. Some of us sit on the couch and watch it happen. I don’t want to be on the couch. I want to be brave. I want to see and explore the more “desperate posts” and make a difference.

Complacency is not an option.

Apathy is not an option.

Today, the battle rages on.

Are you brave enough to join the fight?

Well its the daily battle we fight in our lives. For an example I just found out one of my classmates from school is sick and needs help. I have not seen this person in awhile so part of me is like well what can I do to help her and part of me is hesitant now because this person is angry with Christians. I decided to be brave and make her family a meal. Every day we can be brave in small actions.

No matter what you’re battling today know this that God is with you in the fight as long as you’re in the fight. Give it your best and he will make masterpieces out of you and me. Reach out and help others in this fight also. They need to hand up, not the hand out. Be the sunshine in others lives and watch them grow. Be a disciple and share God’s good news. Amen.

Excellent thoughts. I once wondered…. if God wanted me to go to some remote region along the Amazon River or possibly the mountains on Nepal…. would I be brave enough to go? When you say, “send me,” do you really mean it…really, really mean it?
I realized I wasn’t brave enough for those things. I asked God to use me where I was. He did!

God works through his people…he needs the willing to accomplish his will

    John 14:12
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
    Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
    Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
    Philippians 2:12-13
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
    1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
    John 15:1-27
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. …
    Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
    Philippians 2:13
For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
    Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

“Showing up”: is not always bravery, but commitment and LOVE!

I find myself praying for people when they ask instead of just saying I will pray for you even if a stranger, I used to not be so brave and bold. Thank you Jesus for giving me that boldness .
