11.25.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 11. Open.

DEVOTION: Here’s the larger portion of the quote from yesterday’s devotion.

“Petitionary prayer is, nonetheless, both allowed and commanded to us; “Give us our daily bread.” And no doubt it raises a theoretical problem. Can we believe that God ever really modifies His action in response to the suggestion of men? For infinite wisdom does not need telling what is best, and infinite goodness needs no urging to do it.”

and then He goes on to say…

“He could if He chose repair our bodies miraculously without food or give us food without the aid of farmers, bakers and butchers…Instead He allows soils and weather and animals and the muscles, minds, wills of men to co-operate in the execution of His will.” (pg 10)

I find all of this incredibly fascinating at it’s core. You see, we lean into prayer and then say, ah maybe it doesn’t work when something doesn’t happen. But…have you ever considered that the prayer is answered in a different way than what you had initially thought. Maybe the doctor is an answer to prayer. Maybe your neighbor or your boyfriend is an answer to prayer. Maybe the skills that another possesses are the answer to the prayer that you have been praying for years.

I believe it’s how God continues to set up this entire society and community. We have to rely on each other to exist…to co-exist. We have to lean on each other for help, for aid, for healing, for hope. Yes, He is at the center of it all but we need and require other humans to make this life here on Earth actually work.

So prayer is answered and executed in many many different forms. We just need to be open to the different paths that God uses for each and every specific prayer.

Have been thinking a lot about the question you asked last night with behavior and what change did I make that changed me.. I think that was to see where I could really serve in our Church in CT to make a difference. As I was doing that it became the biggest gift I was given to be able to serve. I thank God every day for letting me in those little moments.. I think I’m still searching for that here… So thankful for this community. Can’t wait to see how this will grow, what it will do and where it will go.
Also with this prayer today in why God even uses us.. Is it for His Church here? As a church community none of us could do it alone. Yet as a community with all our talents pulled together and working together… That’s how we can do more. Give more. Be more. Yet God gives it all to us so we can do that through Him. I pray for myself to find the best way to be able to serve. Where God would want that to be and what He wants me to do.

It still amazes me that God even chose to use us. He has it all. Certainly doesn’t need us. Yet He loves us and uses us. Leaves me in aw.

Isn’t this whole concept, of Our Heavenly Father, setting so many plans, actions of others, in motion, in direct response to the prayers we call out to Him to answer. ? It is exciting !!!! and so awesome , to know , know so deep down , that YES, Our Father God is going to work All Things out for our good , and for His glory. , and He will use family, friends, even enemies, there is nothing He wont do for us, in His unconditional love for us !!! And knowing this, it is why we can, ” Rejoice in the Lord Always” !!! And believe Him, His word, when he tells us to, ” Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving , let your requests be made known to God, AND…………the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus !!!!!!!!! The Awesome Goodness of God!!!!!!!! And He allows us as well, to Cooperate with Him, to answer the prayers of others !!!!!!!!!!! So exciting and so awesome to look at this facet of God, C. S Lewis, certainly has a way with words , !!!!!!

God guides our words. God guides our heart. Lean on him and build yourself up. Then begin to lean on others. Know that God is telling us who to lean on. Those are the people that he puts in our path. If we begin to grow in him and he in us we will co-exist in a better world. Be blessed and know that you are loved; and not just by God. Happy Thanksgiving. I know I am blessed to have so many amazing friends.

yes we are a people that need each other and I am so glad that I found this community of friends /acquaintances being that I am new to the group , I know that I am quiet during bible study , guess Im still easing myself into the group, one thing I have been doing is when I see someone ask for prayer on facebook instead of just saying Ill pray for you , I pray right then and there where they can see my prayer written , trying to be that instrument of HIS love , I am nowhere near where I need to be but I am far from where I was, thank you Jesus for loving me ALL the way through. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL and ENJOY the weekend!!
