11.23.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 9. Willing.

DEVOTION: I heard this quote today.

When we pray, it’s not so much what we say, it’s our willingness to meet with God.

How willing are you to meet with God? How often are you willing?

Compelling questions. Questions that need answers for each of us.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

We complain about our stress, our anxiety. We complain and stress about fear, about worry. In the midst of those complaints, how often is God in the conversation?

Do we lean on our own power or are we seeking another power? Seeking Him in it all?

Are you willing today? Are you taking the time you need to to converse with God? To lean into Him?

If I’m honest….no.

Are you?

Each day I should look for new ways to draw nearer to God. I know that it is hard for me to develop and form good habits. I tend to fall back into the old mundane and sometimes detrimental habits that only work to form a wedge between myself and my maker. More communication with Him deepens the relationship I have with Him and is an acknowledgment that I can’t do anything without checking in with Him first.

Amen Brian. Thanks for the comment. Yes, each day we should look for new ways to draw nearer to God…yet…life takes over. We need to constantly work on our habits…with God’s help in it all. Prayers up for you today brother!

Too often, we wait until we hit crisis mode to even seek God. So much time wasted on trying to figure it out, do it our own way!! How much simpler to go to Him first:
less heartache, fewer people hurt, more peace, etc…

Not often enough! I read something (like your devotional) and am encouraged/spurred on to do this more frequently however I don’t carry it through as I should. Sanctification is a continual process that will never end until we are with the Lord face to face. We can be more like Him if we surrender to pray like He did. He was in continuous fellowship with the Father. We can be too however we need to be disciplined to do so. Thanks for the encouragement Dave!

Suzanne mentioned to me one night that when you have the busiest schedule and the hardest time getting to a bible study, prayer, etc… because of the world pulling at you… That’s when you have to try the hardest to get there. As that’s when you need it most. So right. Working on that. Grateful that is planted in me know to think of and work on too. Thank you my friend.
