11.13.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. Search me….

DEVOTION: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” – Psalm 139:23-24

So, in keeping with the Holy Spirit conversation that we’ve been having…..

This verse…more like a prayer….will convict. I think it’s meant to keep us honest.

When the God who created us, actually created us, searches us and searches our hearts…I’m hesitant to get the results from Him. I know what’s in there. I know the ins and outs of my heart. I know that it gets ugly sometimes. And….I’m sure there’s stuff in there that I’m not even aware of. Stuff that’s hidden deeper that I haven’t even found.

But….this God, this amazing, all powerful, omnipotent, loving, personal, graceful God, He searches, finds the ugly, and then forgives. He cleans us and gives us new life.

The beauty of it is this. With all the dirt, grime and ugliness that our hearts are comprised of. Are capable of. He leads us into the way of the everlasting. Into the way of forgiveness. How? His Spirit in us. His Holy Spirit in each of us. Leading us, breathing life into us and pushing us away from the dark and into the light.

Yes, today. Ask God to search. Ask Him to look into the deep recesses of the heart. Then, expect forgiveness and grace.
