10.8.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 89. Flame.

DEVOTION: Hebrews 1:7 “And of the angels He says; Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers flames of fire.” His ministers a flame of fire! It seems to me that no man with a vision, especially a vision by the Spirit’s power, can read that wonderful verse without being kindled to such a flame of fire for his Lord that it seems as if it would burn up everything that would interfere with his progress. A flame of fire. A perpetual fire. A constant fire. A continual burning. A holy, inward flame, which is exactly what God’s Son was in the world.” (pg 153)

Exactly what God’s Son was in the world.

Exactly what we can be in the world.

A fire. A fire that burns bright for our Lord. A fire that burns bright for goodness, rightness, hope, love, honor, respect. A fire that burns so brightly that others have to ask and inquire about what it is and why it’s overtaking you and me.

We have this Spirit in us. This Spirit that ignites and lights the fire. It’s up to us to stoke that fire and make it burn into a flame that becomes a bonfire and a light so bright that it can’t be extinguished.

Today. Let the fire burn.

PRAYER: Pray for the fire. Pray that it grows more and more today.

Consume me, Lord! Make my soul’s purpose to be just to fuel your fire; for all to see you through me!!

Lord help me kindle your eternal fire. Put me in place to encounter those that need rekindling and love. Strengthen my godly comments and strike my worldly comments that try to rise up. Make me your vessel for you’re words and love. Amen.
