DEVOTION: “I believe that God wants to bring to our eyes and our ears a living realization of what the Word of God is, what the Lord God means by what He says, and what we may expect if we believe it. I am certain that the Lord wishes to put before us a living fact that will, by our faith, bring into action a principle that is within our own hearts so that Christ can dethrone every power of Satan.” (pg 131)
So that Christ can dethrone every power of Satan. Pretty good sentence. Pretty good idea if you ask me.
As we spoke about yesterday, dying to self, this paragraph once again brings forth the idea and the thought of dying to self. If we say that Christ will dethrone every power of Satan. Yes, in the world, but yes…in our lives too.
We live with addictions, with sin, with anger and fear. We live with uncertainty and denial of the truth, with depression and anxiety.
When we say that we want Christ to dethrone every power of Satan in our lives. We’re talking about this! We’re talking about all the things that pull us away from a relationship with Jesus. All of it.
Think about your life. Your sin. Your daily walk. Think about all of the struggles that you’ve been through in your life. Now, think about how Jesus was involved in all of them. Was He? Were you leaning into Him in the midst of it all or was it more of an “idea”?
As we roll forward with this study on the Holy Spirit. We need to think boldly about how Jesus works in our lives. How the Spirit works in our lives because in all honesty, I want Christ to dethrone every power of Satan in my life.
PRAYER: Pray today to for the Spirit in you. Pray that with the Spirit’s help you would battle and conquer the temptations, struggles, sin in your life that get in the way of your walk with Him.
