DEVOTION: “After Abraham was tried, he could offer Isaac, but not before he was tried. God put him through all kinds of tests. For twenty five years he was tested, and he was called “the father of the faithful” because he would not give in. We have blessing today because one man dared to believe God for twenty five years without budging.” (Pg 188)
I was about to move on to another topic when I saw this short passage. He also cites Romans 4: 9-16 which you should definitely check out HERE but here’s the 16th verse:
“Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.” – Romans 4:16
Abraham would not give in. He would not give up. Even though trial after trial after trial came his way. And God continued to test him, he would not cave. He would not give up.
The beauty of the story of Abraham is that he would not give up, he believed God and therefore impacted those around him to believe as well.
Maybe this is how it should be in our own lives. We have to stand on the promises of God and continue to believe in them even when it’s hard. Even when the trials seem to take over.
We need a faith that won’t budge. A faith that is immovable. A faith that is a solid rock on which we stand.
We need to believe that the Holy Spirit in us gives us the strength to explore our faith and dive deeper into it in our lives.
Today. Believe. Have faith. Read deeper the story of Abraham and how his faith changed the world.
PRAYER: God today, we pray for faith. For a deeper faith in all that you do in our lives.
