10.21.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 102. Ready?

DEVOTION: “The thought that has been pressing on my mind for some time is the thought of abiding in God. There is joy in being at the place where we can always count on being in the presence of Power – where we know that God’s presence is with us, leading us to the place where victory is assured.” (Pg 179)

Luke 4:1-2 – “Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil.”

This wording is significant. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit prior to being tempted for 40 days. In Mark it says that He was “driven” by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness.

What wilderness are you walking through or dragging yourself through now?

The idea that Jesus, filled with the Spirit, was able to survive these forty days is incredible. No food. No water.

But He was equipped with the Spirit.

How often do we dive into the wilderness and not equip ourselves with anything that we need for the journey? A little too often.

You see, as we encounter the forks in the road, the storms that we can’t avoid, the thorns…all of it. If we are equipped with a relationship with Jesus and a reliance on the Spirit in our lives. We’re ready for these hurdles.

Today. Are you ready?

Are you ready to be tempted? Do you have the armor of God? Are you filled by the Holy Spirit? Wow, convicting, but guiding. You don’t start a hike without the right equipment or food and water. You prepare, you stock, you plan. Tackle your wilderness this and every day knowing you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Amen
