10.17.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 98. Fear/Plan.

DEVOTION: “Perfect love, perfect knowledge of God, of Jesus, brings me into a state where I have no fear. 1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. – He is transforming my desires into what God desires, into a divine plan.” (pg 168)

Two parts to this devotion. One on fear, one on plan.

Fear. It paralyzes and cripples us, it makes us uncertain and sometimes hopeless. But…Jesus. This passage from 1 John does nothing but teach us that perfect love, the love of Jesus, drives out all fear. Leaves fear lying at the bottom of the mud puddle after the rainstorm. There is no fear with Jesus. There is no doubt with Jesus. There is no hopelessness, only hope, when Jesus is with us. Today. Don’t let fear take control of the situation, give the situation to Jesus.

When we speak on planning, on bringing God into the plan. We go back to the relationship that we have with Him. Is He in the relationship with you? Does He regularly have time with you to discuss the plan? How often do you sit and talk with God?

These are good questions. Questions that need answering. Questions that need to be discussed….with God.

Today be reminded that the plan is there. But…Jesus has to be involved in the plan. Has to be in the conversation.

PRAYER: Pray today about the plan. That God would drive out the fear so that the plan can be seen to fruition.

I have to be honest…and I’m going to quote Dave from Bible Studies “is it just me?”…I am struggling with this scripture, I have been since the June devotional from the 1 John study
    https://davepettigrew.net/6-22-20-daily-dose-of-worship-1-john-418-fear/

I have fear…some that have been conquered through Christ (fear of heights)…other times I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit helping through fearful times. Other fears I have surrendered, I speak that out when they try to creep up but I don’t understand the relationship of fear to punishment? I’ve searched scripture…

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6
. “’For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you,’ declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” ~ Isaiah 41:13-
. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” ~ Psalm 46:1
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper.” ~ Psalm 118:6-7
““The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7

I fear the Lord…not a harsh unforgiving God but a God who I want to serve, fear of not having him is a fear but, a conquered one because he is

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” ~ Mark 4:39-40

I want to be asleep during the storm, just as Jesus was, so I keep surrendering any fears but as of this moment I don’t get this scripture…I am waiting for understanding, I have asked for specific wisdom before and have received it…but for now I just trust.

“Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.’” ~ Revelation 1:17
“Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’” ~ Mark 5:36
