10.13.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on the Holy Spirit. Part 94. Excavation.

DEVOTION: “God first brings His power into us. Then He gives us verbal expressions by the same Spirit, the outward manifestation of what is within us. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” – Matthew 12:34 (pg 161)

How’s your heart? Anyone ever ask you that question? Really, how’s your heart? Yes, it’s beating. Yes, it’s pushing blood through your body and keeping you alive….but, down at it’s core, how’s your heart?

What lies deep in the depths of the soul? In the dark recesses of the heart where even you’re afraid to go sometimes. There are caverns and caves where some not so pleasant things hide.

This is where Jesus wants to work the most on us I believe. Because…those caves, when they have been excavated and filled in. When they have collapsed on themselves, freedom begins to step forward and reign in our lives.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. When we let our hearts really open up to the Spirit and how He wants to remodel…then, and only then, can we really let His light shine forth. Out with the old!

Begin the excavation. Be ready for the change. Let the light of Jesus shine deep into the recesses of it all and begin to clean out all that doesn’t belong there.

PRAYER: God, that our hearts would be clean. That our hearts would be emptied of all that is not of You.

This one really hits home this morning! So many layers being pulled up and a way! Brings Psalm 52:10 Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a right spirit within in me to mind. Wishing you would do the song during worship sometime!

Amen ! I love this picture of the ” site of excavation ” , oh the caverns and caves, of our heart ! Jesus is not afraid to go there , with us, to root out, to excavate , stuff, we may have just pushed and pushed down, for so long, so afraid of ” the pain ” of excavation. I’ve been spending much time lately in Hosea, and yes , so many” Woe to thee,s” in there for sure, but oh the promises , once we ” plow up” , excavate, that fallow ground., Hos 10:12 and Hos 11 4,5 He wept and sought favor from Him, He found him in Bethel, and there He spoke to us………….Observe mercy and justice and wait on your God continually. and a beautiful promise in Hos 6, 3 ” Let us know ! Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord, His going forth is established as the morning, He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth. ” Amen Only Jesus………as Dave sang for us last night, Only JESUS !!!!!!!! and I do love to sing, ” I ‘m going to Bethel, to be with my Lord, to learn to do His Will , instead of my own………………………….Continued prayers for all in our community !!!!!!!!!

what are those metal spikes called…the ground ripping… rock crushing protrusions that lead the excavating process? fingers of conviction?

I’m just grateful the Holy Spirit is steering, Jesus is in the hole with me, and the gaps between me and the Father are closing…your will not mine…more of Jesus, less of me

Let Jesus dig deeper in you to bring out the best that he’s created in you. Believe in him and he will make you to shine.

The line out of the abundance our of hearts our mouth speaks. Just has me thinking of everything we do comes from the heart. So guard your heart for everything you do comes from that. So fill our hearts with you dear Lord so we can be what you made us to be. What you want us to be. Guide us dear Lord. Help us humbly be that reflection of you as we stumble.
