1.3.21 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 48. Need.

DEVOTION: “I need Christ, not something that resembles Him.” (pg 131)

Pretty much says it all.

We try to find our identity in so many thing. In our jobs, our work, our hobbies, our families, our friends, our interests, our possessions. In the end though, we need Jesus.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

Paul’s words here are so very personal. So very simple yet so very complex. Our lives, all of our lives, belong to Christ. Not part or parts of our lives but all of our lives.

As we begin this new year, it’s always good to take a minute and think about your time, your talents, your possessions, your hopes, your ideas and how Jesus is involved in each and every part of each and every part of your life.

It may take a while to change some of the habits you have in your life that need changing so that Christ can be involved in it all but let’s dive deep this year into all that He has in store for us.

I need Christ, not something that resembles Him.

So true… Amen. Our idenity is in Christ. (I need to work on getting better at answering this question when asked too). I need Christ not something that resembles Him either. That’s what my heart is yearning for. Everything we have, everything we do belongs to God. Praying for guidance on that all this year. Praying on this ministry with it all as well.

Satan has this way of “whispering” lies into the chaos and busyness of life. Ever trying to convince me (any Christian) that what is easier, pleasurable, enjoyable in this earthly life will suffice! Even in the “over-trying”, Satan is there!

“I want to be me, not someone else that I’m trying to be”. Be the person God is calling you to be.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.

Those words are all inclusive with unwavering finality. Christ wasn’t partially crucified and he can’t be crucified again. He said ‘it is finished’ . If I only give only a few scattered pieces, than I am not accessing the full power of his sacrifice. He said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” I have to stop limiting what I believe.

    Matthew 8:13
13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.
