1.23.21 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 68. Pray.

DEVOTION: “I didn’t say the same old things about the same old things.”

This is the quote that Whitney hears the most when He teaches people this form of prayer. We find new ways to pray. Even if the prayers incorporate the same old things, we find new ways to word them and present them to God.

I’m finding this to be the case as well. As I pray, I’m praying some of the same things but then there are new things that have been brought into my mind because they have been prompted by the Spirit and by the words from the Bible.

John Piper says it this way. “Praying the Word means reading (or reciting) Scripture in a spirit of prayer and letting the meaning of the verses become our prayer and inspire our thoughts.”

So. Where do we go from here? We pray.

As a lot of us are reading the Bible on a daily basis at this point because of Year in a Bible read, we’re ending with the Psalms each day. Take them and use them as a tool in your prayer life. Remember to have your Bible open as you pray and let it inspire new thoughts in your prayer life.

I’m learning to read a scripture in the morning and reflect and then bring to prayer and be silent so I can hear God.

Praying is a like a walk. You need to be aware of: where you’re going, what your doing, the ground you’re walking on and being able to return to your home safely. If you trust in God your prayers will flow and be both inspiring to yourself and possibly to others. If you love God, your prayer will be uplifting and refreshing. If you walk with God as your friend, your prayer will be friendly and smooth. Be the light God asks us to be. Read the bible, digest it and talk with God on it and be open to praise and change. Amen
