1.20.21 – Daily Dose of Worship. A study on prayer. Part 65. Remember?

DEVOTION: “One of the many reasons that I love praying the Bible is that not only is it a method of prayer, it is also a method of meditation on Scripture. You read a verse, think about it for a moment, talk to God about it, then perhaps you look at it again and go through the process once more. By doing so, you are not only praying the Bible, you are absorbing it.” – Donald Whitney

Absorbing the Bible. Yes, please.

I love the thought of this. Actually absorbing the words, the ideas, the teachings and traits of the Bible into your mind, soul and very being. That’s what we’re doing when we pray and read the Bible this way.

What you’ll find is that it becomes more relevant, more memorable as you read and pray this way. You’ll remember it more. That’s a good thing.

It also makes for an interesting way to memorize scripture. If you sit with one verse of a Psalm and pray it over and over, it makes it that much easier to remember it and a more efficient way to memorize Scripture.

Try it. Keep on praying the Scriptures today.

Thank you Jesus for this and each day. Thank you for the breath that I breathe. Help me to stop my day and focus more on you. For it is you whom I need to be guided by. Thank you that I might be glorified and filled by your wisdom for me. Amen

Amen !!! beautifully said Dave, and a great point to mention how important it is to memorize the scripture we read and pray. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I’m going to try this. I’m going to try praying Scripture starting with the Psalms.
