1.20.20 – Daily Dose of Worship. 2 Timothy 1:8. Ashamed?

PRAYER: Please pray for our Monday Night Worship community. Had a good broadcast tonight but lots of prayer requests. God hears them. Thanks.

DEVOTION: “So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.” – 2 Timothy‬ ‭1:8

What a great verse here. The first half is just a constant and steady reminder of our need to show others our commitment to Christ in our actions and speech.

Paul is sitting in prison writing this. He’s in prison and in chains because of Christ. Sometimes we have trouble talking about Jesus and Paul got thrown in jail because of his talking about Him. Setting a great example for us for sure.

So. How do you set the example? How do you preach the gospel and sometimes use words? In our daily actions and more importantly our reactions.

Jesus. Give us patience, kindness, compassion and hope. Let us be examples of your goodness in all we do.

I can’t help but think of a guy I met last week at an event. His smile was huge. He was in recovery and had found Jesus and had had his life changed in dramatic ways because of Jesus. Now, his face shows his love for God and his commitment lies in his commitment to change and be changed for the better.

Today. Think about how you can be changed. Let God overwhelm you today.

It’s incredible that my monthly contribution to Dave’s ministry helps to reach people night after night like the “guy with the big smile”! I’m so proud to be a supporter of Dave and the band! I only wish I could give more! I’m sorry I missed last night. I’m going to try to listen on replay this afternoon. We had 3 new people attend GriefShare last night and it was a very spirit filled evening! God showed up in amazing ways as each one shared deep burdens from their heart without fear! We each left carrying less weight on our shoulders than when we had arrived! Burdens were lifted and hope was given! As I pulled out of the church parking lot, the song, “Shoulders” by For King & Country came on! I feel like God has me and my group lifted up on His shoulders! Thanks for praying for my GriefShare meeting! Please keep praying God will continue to use me-even in my brokenness-to help connect others to our power source: Jesus Christ!

How can I preach the Gospel, how can I get people’s attention? I can live the abundant life that Jesus came to give us (John 10:10).When people want what we have, we can tell them how they can choose it for themselves. I have struggled with this. We all have things in our lives that no one would want; some of mine are visible. Prison bars are pretty visible, being in prison seems like a huge turn off and yet…there is Paul, receiver and author of most of the biblical wisdom in the New Testament. Peace, joy, love, contentment…if I live these things, if I show them, this will also be visible to people. I struggle less and less as I lean more and more on God. I still have growing to do, there are changes to be made, I pray and hope for things… and I can choose to live the abundance of Christ today…everyday… I can choose to speak praise…to be joyful. Paul chose to do this… look at what God accomplished through him. I don’t have to know how to preach, no worries… I just have to open the door
